About Polaris Project
Polaris Project's vision is for a world without slavery. Named after the North Star that guided slaves towards freedom along the Underground Railroad, Polaris Project has been combating human trafficking and modern-day slavery since 2002.
Polaris Project is one of the few organizations working on all forms of trafficking and serving both U.S. citizen and foreign national victims of human trafficking, including men, women, and children.
Polaris Project's programs take an innovative and holistic approach to create both short-term and long-term solutions. We leverage our on-the-ground experience into a comprehensive strategy to provide victim services, inform and empower the public, train law enforcement and service providers, advocate for better state and federal laws, and strengthen the movement to end modern slavery.
The National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC), which is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services and operated by Polaris Project, works to improve the national response to protect victims of human trafficking in the U.S. The NHTRC is a national, 24-hour, 7 day a week, toll-free call center that provides callers with a range of services including victim assistance through urgent and non-urgent referrals within the anti-trafficking and related fields; tip reporting; and comprehensive resources and technical assistance for the anti-trafficking field and those who wish to get involved.
